The national and state assembly petition tribunal sitting in Makurdi, Benue state, on Tuesday, October 6, upheld the election of former Senate president David Mark, as the senator representing the southern senatorial district of the state.
Reacting to the endorsement of the tribunal, Mark said the judiciary remains the defender of the rights of the oppressed, Daily Post.

Mark in a statement issued by Paul Mumeh, his media assistant, was quoted as saying: “I’ll like to express my appreciation to the judiciary for standing by the truth which led to the reaffirmation of the mandate freely given to me by the people of Benue South Senatorial district.
“I promise to do everything that is constitutionally right to bring dividend of democracy to the door steps of his constituents and beyond.”

Justice Mosumola Dipeolu-led dismissed the petition brought by the All Progressive Congress, (APC) candidate, Comrade Daniel Onjeh challenging the election of Senator Mark of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the tribunal, the petitioner failed to establish any case against Senator Mark, and also failed to prove the allegations of rigging, multiple thumb printing, over stuffing of ballots, allocation of votes, intimidation, harassment and inducement of voters among others.
David Mark of the PDP, and Dan Onjeh of the APC, contested the Benue South Senatorial seat in the March 28 National Assembly election.
However, Mark was declared winner of the election, which his opponent claimed recorded several irregularities. Onjeh, hence, approached the court, seeking dissolution of the poll.

Ajayi Boroffice, a lawmaker belonging to the All Progressives Congress has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees as the best.
According to him, Buhari took his time in selecting the nominees who had experience on how to make the country a better place.
Boroffice made this known to Channels television shortly after the Senate President, Bukola Saraki read the names this morning during plenary.
Senate president, Bukola Saraki earlier today announced the 21-candidate list submitted to him by President Buhari last week.
The League Management Company (LMC) has charged and fined Nasarawa United, Giwa FC, Abia Warriors and Heartland FC  a minimum of half a million Naira for failing to provide adequate security and for unacceptable supporters behavior.
In a statement released by the LMC on Tuesday,  it was revealed that the actions were taken for matches played on matchday 32.

Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama has finally arrived the Super Eagles camp in Belgium ahead of two friendly games against Congo DR and Cameroon.
His arrival comes three days after he buried his mother, Madam Lucy Phillips Enyeama, in Akwa Ibom state.
The grieving goalkeeper arrived Hotel Verviers camp of the Super Eagles this afternoon, October 6 to the excitement of players in camp. He joins the likes of Ahmed Musa, Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi and others in camp.

A 36-year-old woman, Precious Osas, has been apprehended and charged before Isolo Magistrates’ court for biting off a man’s ear.

PM News reports that the incident happened at a popular hotel in Okota, Lagos state, where Presious and a 25-year-old Chikwado Omokwa lodged for a night’s romp.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has said that the remaining names on President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees will surface ‘shortly’, as Nigerians remain expectant of the full list of the president’s kitchen cabinet.
The embattled lawmaker who announced the list of nominees earlier today, also informed that the screening of the prospective ministers will commence next Tuesday, October 13, at which time the Senate would have received detailed information about all the nominees.
