According to Yoruba myth, Oduduwa, the father of the Yoruba race
‘landed’ in Ife. The ancient town is the home of the Ooni of Ife who is
considered the most powerful monarch in Yoruba land.
Ile Ife is an embodiment of history and culture. The town has
maintained and kept standing some buildings and structures that reflect
the historical and cultural significance that it is known for.
A visit to the town by us
revealed a sense of the town’s obstinate desire to hold on to culture
and tradition and it is almost as if the town has not moved on with the
trend of other towns.
photojournalist, Emmanuel Osodi provides pictures of beautiful and
ancient structures from Ile Ife that reflect the historical significance
of the town.
