Senator Nwaoboshi

Ajayi Boroffice, a lawmaker belonging to the
All Progressives Congress has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s
ministerial nominees as the best.
According to him, Buhari took his time in selecting the nominees who had experience on how to make the country a better place.
Boroffice made this known to Channels television shortly after the Senate President, Bukola Saraki read the names this morning during plenary.
Senate president, Bukola Saraki earlier today announced the 21-candidate list submitted to him by President Buhari last week.
However, Peter Nwaoboshi, a Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker representing Delta north senatorial district in the National Assembly faulted the ministerial list.
He said there was nothing special about the list, wondering why Nigerians had to wait so long for the ministers to be nominated.
“We have seen the names. I don’t know what to say because we were expecting saints,” the PDP lawmaker added.
Nwaoboshi explained that the screening would not be business as usual but would be thorough as the Senate would not want to disappoint Nigerians who have high expectations of them.
On the naming of 21 nominees instead of 36, he responded: “That’s APC for you; that’s APC, Nigerians will judge. I won’t say more than that.”
Earlier, Mao Ohuabunwa, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator representing Abia North said the ministerial nominees list is expected to be completed in line with the Constitution. According to him, the ministerial list will meet serious opposition on the floor if it does not cover the 36 states of the federation.
After hearing the names of the ministerial nominees, former Kaduna state governor, Malam Balarabe Musa expressed his deep disappointment with the list, saying there was nothing spectacular about the list. “These are the same old names, ordinary Nigerians who the President knows and he must have even met them several times. So, what is particular about them that he wasted so much time in appointing them ministers,” he queried.
